Lupo Borgonovo (Milan, 1985) in his practice explores the pleasures of experimentation – with matter and form – in sculpture and design. Field research, walks, archival material and history result in combinations and associations of forms of nature, historical artifacts and everyday objects, mixing existing and imaginary objects, and refined and raw materials. Among his most recent solo shows are: ‘Aplomb’, Museo del Novecento in Milan, in 2020 and ‘Zeester’, Museo Civico di Castelbuono, in 2019.
Civita is a Calabrian village of 871 residents in the province of Cosenza, which is 75km away. Holding an Orange Flag certification and located in the heart of the Pollino National Park, it is among Italy’s historic Albanian communities (arbëreshët). This eastern influence is evident, particularly in the churches that form the district of the Italian-Albanian Catholic Church of the Eparchy of Lungro, as well as in some «houses of Kodra», small houses with facades.
