Andreis

PN · Friuli-Venezia Giulia

In Andreis, tradition, poetry, and nature inhabit the landscape. Famous for its Daltz—typical houses characterized by dark wooden balconies—the village is dotted with the verses of Federico Tavan, a visionary local poet.
Andreis lies within the Friulian Dolomites Natural Park, which also hosts a well-known rescue center for injured birds of prey in its avian area, and serves as the starting point for numerous hikes and walks.
Not far from the village center, the landscape reveals the geological features of the area: the gorge of the Susaibes stream traces the Barcis–Staro Selo tectonic line, which has created a series of faults that prevent vegetation from taking root.
The territory also includes the Forra del Torrente Cellina Nature Reserve, a canyon formed by steep carbonate rock walls plunging into crystal-clear waters.
