Ali Hierax
Tasting the air. Laboratory of listening, movement and sonic practice held by Enrico Malatesta

14 October 2026
2.30 pm - 5:30 pm — Laboratory
6.30 pm — Restitution and final performance
Museo Civico Gerace, Piazza Tribuna 15, Gerace (RC)

The workshop explores two different conditions of sound experience: resonant sound, capable of propagating through space, and dry sound, which coincides with the action itself. Through exercises in listening, movement, and sound practice, participants will be invited to develop a sensitivity toward the way the body produces, modifies, and inhabits sound. Listening thus also becomes a form of contact: attention to friction, pressure, duration, and the relationship between gesture, space, and matter.
The workshop will include Ali Hierax by Francesco Toninelli, created for Una Boccata d'Arte 2026: wing-flags conceived as devices for interacting with the element of air. Their collective use will make it possible to connect individual sensory experience with the dynamics of group performance, transforming the participants' movement into a single sonic and perceptual organism.

Renato Grieco and Banda Galliano "la 33" present Doppiopasso, an investigation at the intersection of public space, practices of bodily attunement, and musical composition for acoustic instruments. Similarly to Continua - Renato Grieco's intervention for Boccata d'Arte in the hamlet of Mare in Lugo di Vicenza - the performance is not limited to simple musical execution: it becomes the pivot of a composition made of proximity, bodies, and postures. Those who play create a relationship with the public space and read it through their own choices of movement.
